Against the Wind

Against the Wind

It’s one of the loneliest of all encounters,
The most agonizing of all relationships,
Where it seems as though the very air you breathe
Pushes hard against you as you try to move forward.
Yet move you must.
The calling is too strong…
The need is too great…
Press on …
Press on against the wind.

It’s a dangerous mission to be outspoken –
A fearless voice for the lost lives and broken souls
Who have been cruelly left to drift and wander
Like rudderless ships on an unforgiving sea.
Yet speak you must.
The calling is too strong…
The need is too great…
Press on…
Press on against the wind.

It’s a fool’s errand to be a beacon of truth
In such a frigid, dark and unbelieving world,
Where sirens and cynics lure the unsuspecting,
Then rob visionaries of their future and hope.
Yet shine you must.
The calling is too strong…
The need is too great…
Press on…
Press on against the wind.

It’s the jester’s folly in the clueless king’s court
To pray the prayers and sing the songs of believers
In places where they aren’t just in-tolerated,
But are ridiculed, hated, and falsely accused.
Yet pray and sing you must.
The calling is too strong…
The need is too great…
Press on…
Press on against the wind.

It’s the most scandalous of all expectations,
The most ridiculous of all declarations –
That you can testify to a forgiven past,
And declare a history rewritten by grace.
Yet testify you must.
The calling is too strong…
The need is too great…
Press on…
Press on against the wind.

So as I’m sitting here and feeling down broke and torn apart I find this a hint of light. Presently trying to press on against inequity and the destruction of our home and praying for a way out. As I have told those around me hold on tight for Jehovah shall light the path.

As am I praying for you, my friend. And you’re right… he will light the path for you. As as the Lord spoke through Paul in 1 Corinthians 10:13, sometimes the way out is the way through. We share the same name, but more importantly, we share the same hope.
